Gimcrack Success for Manaal

It was a fairy tale start to the juvenile season on Saturday with Manaal (Tassort) victorious in the G3 Gimcrack S. at Randwick.
It was an emotional day all round with the filly's sire Tassort who is part-owned by Emirates Park notching up a stakes winner from his first ever runner. It was also a welcome back to Tommy Berry who was undertaking his first day back in the saddle after a lengthy stint on the side-lines.
It was a display of class and professionalism from the Emirates Park born and bred filly who was an encouraging third at her only trial just two weeks prior. Jumping from barrier three, Berry found a lovely spot in transit on the tractable filly before asking her to pick up in between runners on straightening. Racing like a seasoned performer, the well-bred daughter of imported Midshipman (USA) mare Red Lodge (USA) fought hard to the line to edge out her rivals by a nose on the line.
The well-related filly now heads to the paddock for a well-deserved break in preparation for some of the country's feature Autumn juvenile events.
